PHW’s 45th Annual Meeting

Join PHW at the Hexagon House (530 Amherst Street) on June 28th at 3 p.m. for our 45th Annual Meeting. Richard Bell, PHW’s incoming President, will review the past year, conduct the election of board members, and present the 2009 Annual Awards. Afterwards, join us for a reception inside the Hexagon House. The presentation will be held in the rear yard of the Hexagon House, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside.

Remember, only current PHW members may vote in the election – contact the PHW office to check the status of your membership or renew the day of the event!

PHW Annual Award Nomination Form

PHW is once again open to nominations from our members and readers for worthy preservation projects or prominent preservation leaders in Winchester and Frederick County for PHW’s Annual Preservation Awards. The award winners will be announced at PHW’s Annual Meeting in June.

To be eligible for a 2009 award, the project must be completed by May 22, 2009. Projects that receive nomination forms for 2009 but are not completed by May 22 are held on file for consideration in the 2010 round of awards.

Before and after photos (print or digital) included with your form are highly desirable and may help your nomination. Before and after photos are generally used in a slideshow presentation at the award ceremony.

PHW Names Ten Winners of 2008 Preservation Awards

Preservation of Historic Winchester has recognized individuals, corporations, and organizations for restoration of historic buildings and advocating for preservation of architectural heritage. For more than 25 years, PHW has recognized these accomplishments through its annual Preservation Awards.For the second year in a row, members were asked to nominate projects, individuals, corporations, and institutions that took the preservation challenge. Ten were selected to receive awards. There are six award categories, five of which are named after distinguished individuals who contributed to PHW’s growth and success. PHW’s Annual Meeting

Join PHW on Saturday, June 21 at the Old Town Event Center, 403 S. Loudoun St., as we elect new Directors to the Board and present PHW’s annual preservation awards. The meeting begins at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.

Annual Awards Nomination Forms Due May 15

PHW is accepting nominations for the 2008 Annual Preservation Awards, which are presented at PHW’s Annual Meeting in June. Preservation projects and outstanding preservation leaders in the Winchester and Frederick County area may be nominated for an award. Preservation projects must be completed by May to be considered for a 2008 award. There is no limit on the number of projects you nominate for an award.

Nominations are due at the PHW office by May 15, 2008.

PHW’s 43rd Annual Meeting

Join PHW for the Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards on June 16 from 3-5 pm at the Education Center in the Lewis Jones Knitting Mill on Kent Street, now the home of OakCrest Companies. Christopher Owens, a noted house restorer, will provide the keynote lecture. Join us for our annual business meeting and presentation of the 2007 awards before partaking in the reception. PHW’s Annual Award Nominations Due

Each year, PHW honors restoration and preservation projects in the City of Winchester during our Annual Meeting. Submit a nomination for one or more of PHW’s awards to recognize the hard work of our citizens in maintaining our remarkable historic architecture. Winners will be announced at our 43rd Annual Meeting on June 16.
