We had an excellent selection of winners. By category, the recipients are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/phwinc\/19445887375\" title=\"427nloudoun by PHW Inc., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/4\/3873\/19445887375_affab64844_s.jpg\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" alt=\"427nloudoun\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/a>Awards of Merit, for renovations that contribute to the streetscape of Winchester:<\/p>\n<ul>\nAlec Bouldin and Lindsay Shannon for 427 N. Loudoun St.<br \/>\nTommy Beavers and Scott Moore for 507 S. Loudoun St.<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/phwinc\/19259622679\" title=\"toll by PHW Inc., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/292\/19259622679_8ceda7f2ee_s.jpg\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" alt=\"toll\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/a>Katherine G. Rockwood Award, for the outstanding renovation of one of <A href=\"http:\/\/www.phwi.org\/rf.php\">PHW\u2019s Jennings Revolving Fund houses<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\nDennis Rhodes III and Richard Johnson, 800 Amherst St., the Toll House.<br \/>\nAdams Nelson Management for the Adams family, 311 S. Loudoun St., the Simon Lauck House.<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/phwinc\/19258313640\" title=\"mesker by PHW Inc., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/354\/19258313640_c378f6da7d_s.jpg\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" alt=\"mesker\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/a>Lucille Lozier Award, for the renovation of an outstanding building that retains 75% for its historic fabric:<\/p>\n<ul>\nShenandoah University, 142 N. Loudoun St., the Solenberger Building.<br \/>\nLarry Omps and Lawton Saunders, 144-146 N. Loudoun St. <\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/phwinc\/19450034491\" title=\"esmith by PHW Inc., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/4\/3812\/19450034491_4ca29570a9_s.jpg\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" alt=\"esmith\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/a>Patron Awards, for people or businesses that have been an outstanding supporter of PHW\u2019s goals and programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\nEugene B. Smith Gallery, for his support of PHW\u2019s programs through gift donations, being an official source for selling and framing PHW\u2019s Beyer prints \u201cA View of Winchester,\u201d and the use of his artwork to promote our historic downtown buildings.<br \/>\nDr. Peter Bullough, for his support of preservation and education activities in Winchester and Frederick County, as well as special recognition for hosting our spring cocktail fundraiser \u201cManhattan(s) in Winchester\u201d in his New York themed home on Cork Street.<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/phwinc\/19419708146\" title=\"sherry by PHW Inc., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/297\/19419708146_83b972868f_s.jpg\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" alt=\"sherry\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/a>Elsie M. Rosenberger Award, for an unsung PHW volunteer:<\/p>\n<ul>\nSherry Bosley, for her ongoing support in the behind the scenes office tasks at PHW.<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/phwinc\/19419814356\" title=\"diem by PHW Inc., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/1\/357\/19419814356_84ae6a0840_s.jpg\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" alt=\"diem\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/a>Carroll Henkel Award, for a leader in preservation:<\/p>\n<ul>\nVincent Diem, for his support of preservation during his time as Zoning Administrator at the City, as well as his leadership role in the updated architectural survey and recommendations for future survey areas which was completed last fall.<\/ul>\n<p>Congratulations to all the award winners, and thank you for the work you do, big and small, to help keep Winchester&#8217;s historic buildings a shining example of positive preservation in our community!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At our Annual Meeting Sunday, PHW announced the recipients of the 2012 Preservation Awards for preservation efforts in Winchester and Frederick County in the past year.
